He's the DJ. The Producer. The TV/ Radio Personality. The Mixtape Legend. The Actor. The Model. The Tastemaker. The Celebrity! He’s DJ Envy.
Mixtape Legend, President and CEO of Blokmanagement, DJ Envy is everything but your typical DJ. Raashaun Casey turned his passion for music into a career when he learned and perfected the art of mixing. It began in high school when the future Mixtape King became the life of local parties. Born and raised in Queens, New York, the young DJ created a name for himself.
DJ Envy climbed the ranks quickly and by the early 2000’s he was premiering the latest and most exclusive freestyles by huge Hip Hop names such as Jay-Z, 50 Cent and the L.O.X. He hosted several shows on Hot 97.1 including: “Takin’ it to the Streets” and “The People’s Choice Hit List.” His reputation was so esteemed that Sony signed him and his affiliate label, Desert Storm Records. In early 2003 he released his commercial debut, The Desert Storm Mixtape: - Blok Party, Vol. 1.
DJ Envy is no stranger to both the club and exclusive party scene. He has hosted and mixed at Celebrity Birthday Parties for Trey Songz, Jadakiss, DJ Khaled, Jermaine Dupri, and Janet Jackson. His talent has been captured on MTV’s Sweet Sixteen/Sean Kingston edition and Chris Brown as well as BET’s 106 & Park and Rap City. He has also been invited countless times to be a guest DJ on the Fuse Talk Show "The Weekly Riff."
DJ Envy made his guest appearance on the 1’s and 2’s at Juelz Santana and Tim Thomas Birthday as well as the VIBE Magazine/Jamie Foxx Album Release Party. He also co-produces The Heart of the City to discover hot new talent.
The young DJ has already been recognized for all of his efforts and commitments. He's a three time Justo Mixtape Award winner...and he most recently won the award for 2008 Most Influential Radio DJ.
